Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We were mad enough to do the Coniston Challenge in 2006, and we have just about recovered enough to do it again, with the aim of raising £2500 for Guid Dogs for the Blind Association this year.

Some of the team are different -John and Ruth are the 'oldies', having to work very hard to be fit enough. Kat is the fit all-rounder, Fiona and Kate are ace cyclists. In 2006 it rained so hard that basically we spent the day drenched, and the event was called off just as our team was swimming back through the surf. Yes, this is a lake, and yes, we were supposed to be canoeing, but the weather was HORRENDOUS. By the way, if you can't sponsor us, please pray for sunshine on the day! (thanks).

In 2006 we came about 5th out of 50+ teams,- although it's not a competition we were quite proud of the team and the practice.

Why are we doing it? We are all fit enough to take for granted doing these activities, so we feel a responsibility to give back.  Guide dogs gives huge extra mobility and confidence to the visually impaired, and raising even £2500 only goes a small way to the total cost a Guide Dogs training and support over its life. Secondly, we meet these dogs and see their benefits first-hand.

Below is the 'technical' bit. Sponsoring online is really easy. We're open to other suggestions for fundraising.

THANK YOU in advance.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
