July 26th, day after the dive!:  Check out the updated photos, Amber got photos and a video so you can appreciate the clouds properly.  What they don't convey however is the mental speed you are falling at...it is an unreal experience that just goes too quickly!   Fi also got a movie so I'm sure we will have a preview night soon.

Leaving Farnham at 6:30am on Sunday, we were not amused to find drizzle and 100% cloud cover...but our mascots must have brought us good luck - thanks to Joan, Rich, Mike, Marion, Zi, and Jamie, is was great to have an audience.  Finally at about 11am everything changed and Cia got called up first, so after suiting and 'panting'-up she went on her merry way.  Luckily we got to see her land (so gracefully) before we took off. Not sure if that made us more or less scared...as she felt a bit off-colour.

So then me, Fi and Amber took off, it was just hilarious because I knew what to expect in the plane.....Fi's face was just a picture when she had to get strapped on even tighter to her instructor.  Check out how snug we all were in the plane!  So Amber went first, muttering a little four letter word on departure.  It doesn't help that they dangle you out of the door for what seems like a long time, but probably is not.  Fi was second and suddenly everyone else had jumped out of the plane!  What a silly thing to do...then my turn.  I really can't explain the sensation, you have no idea what speed you are doing, you trust you are falling down (thanks to gravity) but it is quite disorientating when you do a somersalt on exit.  Freefall is unreal, me and Fi want to do it again for sure.  When the parachute opens you even get to steer, although this movement is circular and made us all feel rather funny.  The silence is beautiful, you get to enjoy this for less than 5 minutes from 5,000 feet.

Before you know it the ground is appearing fast after last minute circular adjustments.  Obviously we all landed like proper dainty maidens, frantically pulling on our leg-flaps to avoid breakages.

After a chill out with our supporters, shandy, double scotch etc, we drove back to Farnham and celebrated with bubbles in the garden.  A long time coming, but worth the wait (I hope I speak for us all), and we are soooooooooo proud to have raised so much money for Phyllis Tuckwell.  We had an article in the Herald last week so that is good exposure too.

Thanks to everyone, especially my fellow maidens x Bex

July 4th, day of the dive:    You could describe the atmosphere in the car journey as 'bouncy', spare pants packed, not much time to worry about our fate as we rattled down the motorway and the lovely A303.  Kinda sunny but a bit breezy. We arrived at Old Sarum Airfield with time to spare, then had time to reflect on what we were about to do...foolishly jump out of a plane at 10,000 ft, that is about 3 miles apparently.  Instruction given and suit donned, I was the first to go, separated from my maidens but ready for the rush.  Fi, Cia and Amber were to be on the next plane.   We slowly made it up to 10,000 ft, ready to jump, but there were no cloud breaks so we had to unfortunately descend.  The wind was also nearly 28 knots.  I landed to find the maidens disappointed too that their plane had been cancelled.   We waited for quite a while, but it was not looking too positive, so we decided to re-book, date to be announced!    Luckily we took the opportunity to do a photoshoot, so take a look and smile at our Phyllis Tuckwell fundraising outfits...please note the front and rear view.  If you think we look beautiful, please donate more money to our cause, the marvellous Phyllis Tuckwell.    Watch this space x

Thanks also to all those who supported us at the airfield, glad you had a good nosh, and I look forward to the next time.

Update June 25th:   Wow we have reached our target, I am so proud!, 10 days to go.  But please keep donating you lovely people!  Apparently the airfield in Salisbury welcome voyeurs, so if you fancy the spectacle of us 4 jumping / landing / celebratory drink, then drop me a line for details: bexb2003@yahoo.co.uk    There is a bar and cafe at the airfield! x

Update June 21st:  13 days to go, petrified now....thanks again to those who have dontated, we are nearing our target now, but really hope to exceed it, so fingers crossed.  Have yet to confirm the costumes too...xxx Amber did a very successful cake sale at the nursery where she works, so thanks to all who participated making and buying yummy bits x

Update June 9th 2010:  Thanks so much to all who have donated, we are all so proud to be jumping for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, and are so appreciative of your kind donations.  We have 3 more weeks to reach our target, so bring it on!  xxx

This jump is long overdue, but finally on July 4th we are gonna jump from 10,000 feet, freefall a lot, parachutes will open successfully, and we will land gracefully....we hope!      I can't wait, and I'm sure I speak on behalf of Fi, Cia and Amber.  This may also be the time to tell the girls that we freefall for 45 seconds....reaching 120mph....

Fi only said she will do it if she can jump first, so that's decided, bagsy me second...who's next?  We are also seeking ideas for fancy dress, we need to be 'adorned' quickly, obviously with no items that could come off at 120mph, and nothing that obstructs the parachute.  Please email us with any suggestions. xxx

We are all raising money for Phyllis Tuckwell, our local hospice, who do the most amazing job of caring for patients and their families.    We honour our beloved Marquind, who we love and miss with all our hearts.
