Story

Let's be honest here. We have never done this before. Not even 1 mile. Let alone 13.1 miles.

So for all you lovely people and to ensure you get value for money, we have included below our Top Tips on Running for Non Runners, which we have painfully learned along the way and some advice we have gleaned from our celebrity sporty friends.

And there's more!

We will be holding a fund raising event themed " End of Summer Party II ". Sponsorship ensures you are on the guest list. We will also be holding an Irish Coffee morning should we all pass the finish line.

Let's Run and Party!!! Yay. Together we can do this.

                      TOP TIPS FOR NON RUNNERS
---------------------------------------------------------------------

( Or What No One tells You Before You Start )

1. Do buy your trainers in a larger size than your normal shoes, this will accommodate any swelling on the day - yes, we did say swelling. It does look ridiculous but will get you through the mileage. Also makes it seem like you know what you are talking about with all those other long term geeky runners i.e. "Oh you know you really must buy your trainers in a larger size, what what."

2. For the ladies - Double up on bras. A sports one on it's own is not enough. Best Sports one is Shock Absorber. It reduces bounce by 74%. But you still need to double up over your regular bra.

3. Joggers Nipple - Yes guys, excessive training causes bleeding due to the friction of your t-shirt. So train as little as you really must. Or go shirtless! Us ladies prefer the latter option, especially if you have a body like the model from the Abercrombie & Fitch ads.

4. Socks - you must wear those double stitched ones to avoid blisters. It's not worth chancing not being able to wear your heels at the weekend.

5. Wicking - this is something built into sporting fabric which turns sweat into wick. Psychologically this works as you think you don't smell

6. A pint as a treat afterwards does actually make the run better and the pint taste all the more refreshing

7. Do not go on a diet at the same time as exercising. Good idea to stock up on cakes, pasta, potatoes. You know you'll run it all off afterall. So it's not all bad

8. And 13.1 miles is HUGE!!!!!!!!!! Do not believe anyone even your best mate who tells you it is EASY. It is the most painful thing you will EVER do.

         QUOTES FROM OUR CELEBRITY FRIENDS
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1. "Run so hard you come in with bloody feet and missing toenails". - Robert de Castella.

2. "If I am still standing at the end of the race, hit me with a board and
knock me down, because that means I didn't run hard enough". - Steve Jones.

3. "Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever." - Lance Armstrong.

4. "A lot of people run a race to see who's the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts". - Steve Prefontaine.

5. "You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on". - Dean Martin

6. "Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power". - Lao Tzu.

7. "A Cadbury's Boost a day keeps the cramps away". - Paula Radcliffe.

8. "I spent 90% of my money on women, drink and fast cars. The rest I wasted". - George Best.

9. "Some players have psychologists, some have sportologists - I smoke.". -Angel Cabrera.

10. "The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!". - Rocky Balboa

11. "I completely zoned out. I don’t even remember the question". - Serena Williams
