Story
Welcome to the Bombay Tricycle Club Home Page.
This
site will track our progress in the build up to, and during our trip of
a lifetime starting in Gantok, Sikkim, a tiny state located in the
Himalayas between Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan, and finishing in Jaisalmer,
deep in the Rajasthan desert. To add a little to the excitement, we are
making the trip in an rickshaw! Please check out the Blog for updates
on how we are getting on
Whats all this about?
Firstly
– contrary to popular belief, THIS IS NOT A HOLIDAY! We will be making
the journey with our little rickshaw completely unaided – there is no
set route, if we get lost, break down, get upset, scared or confused it
is up to us to sort it out and make it to the finish line. Apart from
the adventure of it all we are also looking to raise lots of money for
some extremely worthwhile charities – please see the charities page for
further details. If you are able to donate anything it would be most
appreciated and all money will go directly to your selected charity (we
will not be using it to fund the expenses of the trip!)
When is it happening?
The journey starts on Saturday the 11th September and with a bit of luck finishes on Sunday 26th September
Meet
the team: Dave (left), Phil (centre) and Matt (1 from right), the
chubby one on the far right was planning to do the trip with us but
unfortunately we had to chuck him out of the team due to him not making
his target weight. Please see picture on homepage http://rickshawrun10a.theadventurists.com/bombay-tricycle-club
The team has been painstakingly selected to ensure they have all the skills necessary for such a challenge: Dave Anson once had a moped, Phil Brookes has a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, which he has never used, and Matt Eastwood sells kids outdoor toys (www.ukoutdoortoys.co.uk). What more could you need? All team members are originally from Bromsgrove although Phil has since emigrated to Walsall, Matt to Droitwich and Dave resides in Sidemoor.
