Story

Hi All,

I RAN THE FLORA LONDON MARATHON 2009 !
What an amazing experience and what a way to celebrate my 50th year! It was a fantastic day to be part of one of the greatest races in the world (I know I didn't win but it's the taking part!!).

Thanks to everyone who has supported me: those who made donations,  whose ears I've bent going on and on about my training runs etc.,  who cheered us on from the sidelines or their tv sets or in their thoughts. You all helped me to the finish line, especially the children handing out jelly babies - you don't know how good a jelly baby tastes till you've run 23 miles with 3 more to go.

I ran on behalf of the National Autistic Society to help raise awareness and much needed funds for their great work. Yes the race is over BUT I AM STILL RAISING MONEY AND ACCEPTING DONATIONS to at least achieve my target.

I chose to run for The National Autistic Society as my 14 year old son has Aspergers Syndrome, he was diagnosed at 4 years old. Aspergers Syndrome a form of autism is an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and profoundly affects the persons ability to relate and communicate with others and can have a severe impact on the quality of their own and their family's life.

A little bit about me - I qualified as a counsellor in 2005 and currently work as a volunteer counsellor to young people aged up to 25 yrs old and also with women who experience domestic violence. I started running about 10 years ago for fun, exercise and as a good stress buster!! (yes, check earlier dates out !!!) 2 years ago I ran the London 5K for Cancer Research, earlier this year I stepped it up to run the London 10K and more recently the Royal Parks London Half Marathon and before I run out of steam London Flora Marathon 2009 here I come !!!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Autistic Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
Thank You
