Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2010 I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. I was transferred to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton where I had several courses of Chemo which put me in remission for a year but unfortunately the illness came back so I had a course of stronger chemo.
While I was recovering from that I went down with a serious lung infection which put me on life support for some weeks. I eventually recovered, had to learn to walk again, and then in May 2012 I received an umbilical cord stem cell bone marrow transplant.
I am now very fortunately free of the disease and leading a fairly normal life thanks to the wonderful teams at the Royal Marsden.
I'm doing this walk partly to prove to myself I can, but also to raise money so that the Marsden can help more people in the future.
