Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks to everyone so far for your contributions including a very generous contribution from my company Boehringer Ingelheim, brilliant stuff. I have now reached my minimum target of £350 but my personal goal was always to achieve the nice round figure of £500 so please keep contributing to a fantastic cause!!!

Can't wait to get that pink vest on race day, from the photo it's clearly my colour.

Training is going pretty well, doing 30-35 miles a week and recently ran 12 miles with 13 planned tonight! Generally training at about 7.30 min/mile pace so aiming to do the race in under 1 hr 40.

I've definitely caught the running bug!

2 weeks to go now and I'm really looking forward to just getting out there and enjoying the experience. Training has gone pretty well, been running 4 times a week getting up to 15 miles on one run, and I've remained injury free. The hard training is behind me now thankfully so I can start to ease down on the weekly mileage and start loading up on the carbs next week...brilliant!! Now aiming for 1hr 35 with a target race pace of 7.15min/miles which will really hurt come mile 11 which is basically a big hill that lasts a mile!

Thanks again to everyone who has supported me so far, (Andy Ashmore has donated twice, legend!). Just shy of my £500 target so please dig deep guys for a great cause!

Well I did it!......1 hr 33 mins 33secs to be precise, so beat my target time of 1.35 which I was really pleased about especially as it was such an unusually hot September's day up North! The support from the crowd was amazing, and had a far greater affect than I imagined, had I realised this before I probably would have set off quicker and got closer to the magic 1 hr 30 mark but I'm still very satisfied with my first real long distance race.

Thanks again to everyone for contributing to the total which has well exceeded my personal target of £500, you're all the best in my eyes!

Special mention to the Parkinson's Disesase Society for all the support they showed me during my preparations and for looking after me after the race with unlimited cups of tea & a well received massage!

Finally thanks too to Hannah Collinge my work colleague who also successfully completed the run and supported me throughout my training.
