On the 25th march a dear friend of ours was diagnosed with inoperable stomach cancer, we dont want to go in too many detail as thats not the point of this group. No outpouring of sympathy here please, keep it lighthearted! What we do want to say is that this has touched a lot of people who all felt helpless.. think of it as Steven in the middle and the ripples going outwards through his family, his friends, and even friends of friends who've heard the story and been moved.
On top of everything else Steven has a blood clot and therefore he is unable to have a wet shave for the foreseeable future. So we decided we would join and support him in growing beards, hence the beardathon!
So the challenge has started on April 10th and will go on until the worldcup final july 11th 2010. 13 WEEKS IN TOTAL!!!!!
The Beardathon Challenge will be raising money and awareness for the South Tyneside cancer charity 'Cancer Connections' This is a great cause and the amazing people who work relentlessley for this organistion have already been of great help to Steven and his family.
Please feel free to make a donation or sponsor any of us when you see us out and about or visit our just giving page! Even the smallest amounts are greatly appreciated and will make such a difference!! There will be various beard photo's uploaded on this page so please keep visiting and witness for yourself how hairy we get!! Also if you have any snaps of us out and about then do feel free to upload photos of the various beards in various stages of growth.
