Story

WE DID IT.

We started at 4.20am and finished the 100th hole at 8.35pm!! We kept our humour throughout the day and amazingly even the golf remained to a good standard right up to the last putt dropping on the last green.

We could not have completed the challenged without the help of a huge number of people including our caddies, the members, family and friends who walked the last 18 holes with us, keeping the encouragement going, our personal physiotherapist, the catering and bar staff at the club, the other players on the course allowing us to play through, the club's General Manager and many more, to one and all a massive thank you from all four of us.

Finally a massive thank you to all who have donated. Without you we could not have raised such a huge sum of money for such a worthwhile cause, thank you.

James, David, Neil and Ian.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Like many people around the country we have been moved by the heroic efforts of the men and women of our armed forces and the risks they take on an almost daily basis.

On the 21st June 2010, the longest day, our fourball of James, Neil, David and Ian  will be attempting to play 100 holes at Burnham Beeches Golf Club on behalf of the Help For Heroes charity. We will be starting out at approximately 4.30am to give us the best opportunity of completing the five and a half rounds which will involve walking in the region of 30 miles and taking some 500 shots each. We envisage arriving back at the club house at about 10pm. We will also have the help of many friends caddying for us.

Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help.

If you needed any more reasons to donate, then read this extract from the Help For Heroes webpage.

"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. If like us you want to make a small difference then please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks you in advance.
