Story
On 23 October 2008 the Sabre Trust's School Bus Run leaves the UK for Ghana - a four week overland charity expedition carrying teaching and sports resources down to the schools the Sabre Trust supports in Ghana's Central Region.
The school-bus will be crewed by intrepid volunteers - thrill seekers with a conscience, who will combine the adventure of a trans-Saharan expedition with volunteering their skills on arrival to support the Sabre Trust's network of Whole School Improvement Programmes in the KEEA District.
On their arrival in Ghana, the school-bus will be deployed to support extra-curricular activities by providing transport for school trips and sports fixtures. The volunteer crew will cover all the costs of transporting the mini-buses and resources to Ghana, but we need your support to set up a fund to support the running costs of the school bus once it reaches Ghana.
Please dig deep and support this initiative which will broaden the horizons of thousands of school children by taking them on cultural trips and allowing them to participate in schools sports competitions.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.Do you have what it takes to conquer the Sahara? Email volunteer@sabretrust.org to join the School Bus Run!
