Story

The Callum Carter Challenge

That's right..we're going for it - the unique Callum Carter Triathlon Challenge.  Callum and Mr Carter have invented a new triathlon and, if successful, are fully expecting it to become an accredited sport for the 2012 Olympics!  (well perhaps not!)

NEWS UPDATE!!!

WE'VE FINISHED!

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, MONEY!  WE'VE MANAGED TO RAISE FAR MORE THAN WE HAD HOPED.  WE COMPLETED THE 54 MILE RIDE IN 3HRS 50MINS.  WE'VE LOVED EVERY MINUTE (ALMOST!) AND HAVE LEARNT LOTS ABOUT OURSELVES IN THE PROCESS.  WE HOPE YOU'VE BEEN INSPIRED TO GO ON TO TAKE UP A CHALLENGE OF YOUR OWN...IF YOU ARE, WE OWE YOU!

- Just one more challenge to go!  Mr Carter finished the London Marathon in 3hr 37min 1 sec.  Thank you to everyone for all their support.  It was a great atmosphere in London and certainly helped Mr Carter get to the finishing line.  If you are in or around Woking, Ripley or Send on Saturday come and see us cycle past. A map will be available soon!

- AMAZING!  Callum and James (Callum's rowing partner) completed their 26.2 mile row, starting in Weybridge and travelling 13.1 miles down the Thames past Hampton Court, Richmond and beyond and then against the stream 13.1 miles coming back.  They barely broke sweat - Callum even challenged me to a 2km race on the ergo when he got back to the club house!  I declined! I'm not scared....just saving myself for the marathon next weekend!  Well done Callum and James.  You were incredible and totally inspiring.  Thank you to all our sponsors....we've smashed our original £2000 target and are now on course for our revised one of £2500.

- Only 1 week to go for Callum's row!  He's looking in good shape!  Mr Carter has completed a 3 hour run and we've both been out on the tandem.  Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far.  If you haven't - shame on you!!!  We need one last boost for that final push..so don't buy too many Easter Eggs - give us the money instead!

 Here's the challenge:

- Callum rows 26.2 miles along the Thames
- Mr Carter runs 26.2 miles along the streets of London
- Callum and Mr Carter ride 52.4 miles on a tandem bike (probably the following weekend because we'll be too tired from our earlier exertions!)

Guess the time it'll take Mr Carter to run the 26.2 miles or for Callum to row that distance and the closest will win a bottle of champagne. Add your estimate to your comment.

We are completing this challenge to raise much needed funds for Guide Dogs, a very worthy and well run charity.

Bookmark our page and keep revisiting it (or indeed send it on to friends!) as we'll keep updating it with photos and perhaps even the odd video or two.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Guide Dogs gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now - we couldn't do it without you!

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
