We will be holding a Sponsored Reading Week starting 28 April to raise funds for our fantastic Book Bus.

Four years ago, we came up with the idea of renovating an old double decker bus as a Book Bus, in memory of Lyla Glennen, who died in April 2021. The school community, and Lyla's friends and family raised thousands of pounds to transform the old bus into the wonderful place it is today. Since it was opened, hundreds of children at Bourn Primary and Little Hands pre-school have enjoyed boarding the bus and going on a reading journey.

The Sponsored Read will raise further funds for the bus - not just to replace books and for its upkeep, but to make it a green Book Bus! We are aiming to raise money for solar panels to make it carbon neutral (as the heaters and air conditioning units use a lot of energy!)

During the Sponsored Reading Week, children in all classes will spend time reading in different places around the school each day and we will ask children to read in the most unusual places they can think of outside of school. You will be able to ask friends and family to sponsor your child for the number of pages read/minutes of reading/books read during the week - the choice is up to you.
