Story
Due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown measures that have been put in place to slow its spread, all of the Edinburgh Quartets concerts have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely. We do not yet know when normal concert activity can resume, but we now know that it may be many months before we are all able to go and hear our favourite orchestras and chamber groups play live music. Unfortunately, until we are able to resume performing, the Edinburgh Quartet will have no box office income
2020-21 is the 60th Anniversary of the Edinburgh Quartet and we wish to ensure that the Edinburgh Quartet continue to perform for many years to come, once the threat of the Coronavirus has passed. So we have set up a fundraising page to help keep us afloat until the time when we are able to perform live again.
Donations will enable the Quartet to make plans for the short and long-term future. We are working on a series of high quality recordings which will be done during social isolation and shared online. Once the strictest lockdown restrictions have been lifted, we are looking at venues from which we will be able to live-stream performances, or perhaps perform to small groups.
This year, The Edinburgh Quartet were scheduled to donate 100 hours of player time to visiting care-homes and performing for residents and carers. As this is not currently possible, we would like to record a Songbook of popular pieces which we can send to care homes to enjoy.
Your donations will be put directly to fund the players and these projects, they will not be used to cover administrative costs.
Look out for updates as we continue making music and plans over the coming months on our website: www.edinburghquartet.com and follow our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/edinburghquartet ) for updates and links to online recordings.
We look forward to seeing you again next season and hopefully sooner.
Best wishes for your health and well-being and many thanks for your donation,
The Edinburgh Quartet
