Story

The Coronavirus pandemic sadly forced the cancellation of our Annual Ball, which normally raises more than £100,000 for the hospice.

We're very disappointed that we can't get together in person this year, but we are delighted to be welcoming you for a virtual night of spectacular entertainment to raise money for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

Throughout the pandemic, Francis House has provided emergency respite care to many children and young people and offered thousands of hours of telephone support to desperate families in need of a break.

We invite our supporters to enjoy this magical event whilst helping to raise crucial income to keep the hospice going through these difficult times.

How your donations could help:

As the past year has had an huge impact on the children and families we support, we now need two additional specialist Bereavement and Emotional Support nurses. Just £2,750 will pay for a specialist nurse for a month to care for a child at Francis House. If 12 people make this pledge it will fund a nurse for a year!

Francis House uses special profiling beds which can help us position young people with the minimum amount of manual handling. £2,000 would pay for a profiling bed. We can buy this if 4 people donate £500 each!

We desperately need a specialist bath at a cost of £14,000. If 7 people donated £2,000, we would reach our target tonight.

We need three new syringe drivers at a cost of £3,500 each, which will enable us to administer effective pain relief when its needed most. If 3 people donate £1,166, or if 6 people donate £581, we will be able to buy one syringe driver immediately.

The hospice uses special mattresses which have components that inflate and deflate, relieving pressure on any particular part of the body. We need two childrens mattresses at a cost of £625 each and one for toddlers and babies which costs £900.

As a result of the pandemic, we have had to build a further Rainbow Room (the Rainbow Rooms are our mortuary suites) with accommodation close by for the parents. Furnishing the family accommodation will cost approximately £1,500.

We currently have only one mobile sensory unit that can be moved from bedroom to bedroom to provide a child with therapies such as light effects, aromatherapy, and sand stimulation. A new mobile unit will cost approximately £4,500.

Please donate whatever you can to help us reach our target and make a real difference to the children and young people at Francis House.
