Story

Update 21/03/2022: THANK YOU so much for all your support of this food bank. We have been overwhelmed by local people's generosity.

We are putting a pause on this just giving page for now. If we are in need in the future again we will open it up. Thanks for all your amazing fundraising for us as a charity helping us continue with confidence supporting the local people of Craven who are struggling to afford to feed themselves and thier families.

If you need to contact us please do so at food@skiptonfoodbank.org

UPDATE: 4/3/2022: We are carrying on here at the food bank supplying 30-40 parcels a week to families and single people who are struggling to feed themselves or their families across Craven. We work through refferrals from agencies supporting people who can also offer support and advice directly to the people affected. We are supported by local businesses and people. We have a very committed team of community volunteers and the organisation is run by Skipton Baptist Church with currently 2 part time staff. We have good links with the local Christian Against Poverty debt centre and job club and a well being cafe. All run by local churches offering support to those who are struggling with diffferent issues. Thank you so much for all the support.

UPDATE: 11/10/2021: We are continuing to run the food bank. We are returning to some of the ways we were working pre pandemic. Working mainly by referral only from local support agencies, encouraging individuals to pick up parcels rather than have deliveries. We have been sending out 20-30 parcels a week in recent week and months and are wondering if demand will increase again due to cuts in Universal Credit. We are grateful for all the support - financial and food donations - which have enabled us to keep on going. Thank you for partnering with us in this.

UPDATE: 3/11/2020: Who would have thought that this appeal would still be open in November! We are so thankful for everyone's kindness and support for those who are struggling across Craven. We have left this appeal open as a general way for people to donate until the pandemic is over. The food bank is busy! Supporting around 40 households a week, and managing to help provide household items such as washing powder, cleaning items and hand sanitizer. The extra money has helped pay for another member of part-time staff to help with all the organisation, for much-needed new equipment to help us run remotely if needed and for bulk ordering of stock to make sure we are prepared for any future issues. You are all fantastic, thank you so much.

UPDATE: 10/04/2020 - We have been blown away by people's generosity and support. In the past few weeks we have been supporting around 150 people each week and our stocks of certain items are running out. We'll be using the extra money to purchase more food to make up our food parcels. We've upped our target to £5,000. Thanks again for your support!

We are still open and providing food parcels to people across Craven! We provide parcels for families and single people that will keep them going for 4-5 days if they have no food and no money.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support from local businesses and individuals who are donating food, time and money. We are a community resource set up to help all of our local community at difficult times. We want to help all those in the Craven area.

Normally food donations given into our drop off locations and our business partners cover the vast majority of the food needed for our parcels. Now demand has soared and donations have reduced due to the lockdown and social distancing measures. We, as well as many Food Banks across the country, are running low on stocks of food to make up our parcels.

We need to shop more to make up the parcels. Fortunately, we have now secured the ability to buy what we need from local supermarkets but we need the finances in order to do this shopping. We also need to purchase more equipment, safety gear and cleaning materials.

That is where this campaign comes in. Please give generously so that we can continue this vital service to our local community.

You can connect your fundraising to this page if you want, then we can help spread the word! Please get in touch at food@skiptonfoodbank.org if you would like any more information, posters, or have any other suggestions.

We will keep going until the last possible moment and are really praying that we can continue with your support.

THANK YOU!
