Story
The reason behind this paddle is that Sue is undergoing Cancer treatment at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital at the Colney Centre.
While at the centre every three weeks we both receive free tea ,coffee ,sandwiches nothings too much trouble.
Also at the Big C building just outside the hospital, we can go and relax away from the hospital atmosphere ,again all things there are free.
As this is all done through donations we need to do our bit to raise some funds.
Tony Brooks and Richard Forder will be paddling the 30 miles as below with Sue Brooks and Jane Forder doing the bank support.
We hope to do this towards the end of August but this trip is very weather and tide dependant as we are paddling an open (canadian) canoe, but will keep in touch here if things change.
The Trip.
We will be paddling in our canoe from the sea lock at Oulton Broad which seperates the broad from Lake Lothing across the broad to the River Waveney, up the Waveney towards Somerleyton ,then on to St.Olaves,Burgh Castle and then across Breydon Water heading for the Port of Great Yarmouth.
That should be close to 18 miles of paddling from there through the Port and out to sea for a further 12 miles of coastal canoeing down to Lowestoft ,into the harbour, across Lake Lothing and full circle back to the sea lock.
We were hoping to have completed it by the end of August but the weather has been against us. Once the wind and the sea calms down we will do it.
