Story

Isobel is a friend of mine. Three years ago she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Her whole family were transported 75 miles from home to a specialist children's cancer where CLIC provided a 'home from home' free of charge, so that Issy's family could live next door to the hospital. After returning home, they were provided with a dedicated CLIC nurse who administered as much chemotherapy at home as possible. CLIC provide grants to support a family in this situation and specialist help is available in the form of children's psychologists & play specialists for the children, and support & counselling for the parents.
The wonderful news is that Isobel is now in remission however she still has the support of CLIC, as she will need to be monitored for many more years. The doctors & nurses in oncology were fantastic - but it was CLIC that bound the whole thing together - we have living proof!

To help Clic raise much needed funds, my friend Alan and I will be running a Half Marathon in Stratford-On-Avon on April 24th.

Each day in the UK five families are told their child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment on their lives will never be the same again. Most children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will remain. CLIC's role is to try and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands-on care, clinical services, financial and emotional support. CLIC has joined together with Sargent Cancer Care for Children to become the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.
