Story
Thank you all very much for your donations for my Cardiff Half-Marathon run carrying a 30lb pack for the RAF Association.
The race was very hard, but I managed to finish in 1hr 45 minutes, the fastest I've done it with a 30lb pack!
I decided to fundraise for this great cause because of the help they gave my mum and my grandmother after my grandfather, an RAF airman was killed.
He was John Bell and he joined the RAF in 1925. He saw service in the Middle East, India and Europe throughout the 1920s, 30s and the Second World War. He was sadly killed in a road accident in 1946 outside his airfield. This was two months before my mum was born.
The RAFA gave vital support to my mum and grandmother through her childhood, and this is my way of saying a belated 'thank you' and a way of supporting their work today with serving and former RAF personnel and their families.
