Story

DECEMBER 2008 UPDATE:

Well, I'm back and still in one piece!  The experience was amazing - I'll bore you with all the photos and stories next time I see you.

Can't believe how generous everyone has been so many thanks once again for helping me to exceed my target.

Now planning the challenge for 2009 as this experience was so contagious!!

Cheers, Carl

A big "hello" to everyone and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As I recently entered my 40th year I decided to make it a special year all round (what mid-life crisis??) so in a moment of madness I've signed up to complete a 500km bike ride from Saigon, in Vietnam, to Angkor Wat, in Cambodia, which I'll complete over 7 days in November 2008.

Not only does this mean that this year's New Year's Resolution of "Get Fit" will actually continue beyond January, I have set myself the challenge of raising £10,000 for the charity, The Institute of Cancer Research.  This is a cause which is very close to me having prematurely lost a couple of close relatives as well as witnessing both my parents being diagnosed with and successfully treated for cancer over the last 5 years.  Both are through their treatments and are now once again living full and active lives which is something for which I am eternally grateful to all those involved in cancer research, diagnosis and treatment.  So, I'd like to do my little bit and help contribute towards the funding of research into this widespread disease.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online.  Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Institute of Cancer Research & Everyman will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Carl
