Story
Thank you for visiting Carolyn & Don's fundraising page.
We are climbing Kilimanjaro in February 09 in memory of Tom Smith.Much loved Father, Grandfather , Brother, Uncle & Lover to Many! But above & beyond was a friend to all. I'm sure you all remember that Tom would give his last penny to anyone, now it's time to give something back to the people that really helped him & the family through a very difficult time.
Dad and I will start our travels on the 27th Feb 09 flying to Nairobi then onto Kilimanjaro. Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest walkable mountain in the world and over 6 days we will attempt to reach the uhuru Peak which stands at 5,896m. We will be walking through different climates from Rain forest to - 20.
We have spent months training for this and hope that all our efforts are rewarded with watching sunrise over Uhuru Peak, alongside raising money for our fantastic NHS.
We need to raise £3500.00 to buy a specialised Neuro Critical Care bed, if we raise more it would be lovely to do buy something for the relatives room.Walking back into the CCU after 3 years brought back very vivid memory's ! Above all i remember the staff being supportive, empathetic and very professional.
Sister Dee & staff We thank you and hope that people will help support this worthy cause.
Many Thanks

This trip is self funded so everything we raise will go straight to the University Hospital in Birmingham where they will buy a bed for the Neuro CCU ward.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: University Hospital Birmingham Charities gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
