Lands End To John O`Groats On A Tandem · 16 February 2007

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Departure date has been set:- 17th. June 2007

We are Ian Carrott & Richard Crooks,  two middle aged folks who every now and again like to challenge ourselves and at the same time raise some money for charity. Previous events include rowing across the Wash (Hunsatnton to Boston) and rowing from Wales to The wash (Boston again).

This time we are going to go for a dry land event and plan to cylcle from Lands End to John O`Groats, that is 900 miles in 9 days on a tandem.

Why Crohns & Colitis Charity:-

Ian has a daughter who developed Crohns in 2004 and all money raised will be donated to The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC) wich is an organisation that brings together people of all ages who have Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s Disease, their families and the health professionals involved in their care. At present there is no cure. These two illnesses are both forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and they affect about 1 in 400 people in the United Kingdom.

Training is underway with 3 - 4 hour rides every Sunday morning and shorter mid week evening training is also being squeezed in. So should you see 2 middleaged men on a tandem looking tired & bewildered please spare us a thought or evan better some cash.

We plant to leave lands end on June 17th. cycling aprox 100 miles a day and arrive 9 days later in John O`Groats.
