Story
In September 2011 I will be trekking to Machu Picchu in memory of my Dad to raise money for The Royal Marsden, a charity hospital specialising in cancer treatment.
For those of you who do not already know, in September 2008 my beautiful Dad was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Unfortunately, over the next few months this became advanced which meant there was no cure and in March 2011, my brave, courageous Dad lost his battle against the cancer.
I have specified for the money I raise to go the renal cell cancer research department (kidney cancer). Advanced renal cancer is usually terminal with a short life span of 6 months, but with the care of The Royal Marsden my Dad exceeded all medical expectations. In December 2008 my Dad was given just 6 months left to live but with the Royal Marsden looking after him, he managed to battle the cancer for another 2 years and 3 months.
The money I raise will hopefully prevent another family having to go through the trauma of losing someone they love so dearly. And if not, it will at least enable other people to have more time with their loved ones, as I had with my Dad.
So please help me raise this money for The Royal Marsden to enable them to continue providing the miracles they do.
