Story

Staff at Cestria Community Housing are up for a challenge in 2013!

The Blister Blasters, a team of 4 with a support crew is taking part in the Oxfam Trailtrekker, 1st-2nd June in Yorkshire. The team will be walking 100 km (62 miles) in 30 hours – it will be very, very demanding and not for the faint-hearted!

We will start at Skipton, Checkpoint 1: Malham, Checkpoint 2: Horton in Ribblesdale, Checkpoint 3: Buckden, Checkpoint 4: Conistone, Finish at Skipton. The Trailtrekker route is the equivalent of 2.5 marathons non-stop. The team will take on all sorts of terrain during the challenge from remote moorlands at dawn to the 600 steps of Malham Cove to the summit of Fountains Fell (668m).

The team of 4 is made up of Peter Hewitson, Arshia Bhatti, Craig Ball and Esther Windass. The support team is made up of Suzanne Jobson, Michelle Fortune, Christine Scott, Helen Gates, Rebecca Gimby and Lisa Coverdale.

The team will be preparing by doing some long walks in preparation each month to get ready for Trailtrekker in June.

We'll be doing some fundraising activities each month and we would really appreciate everyone’s support to help us achieve our target of £1800 and more!

We will be making a difference as our money will help Oxfam to change lives in these three areas:

1) Providing clean water and sanitation during emergencies

2) Funding long-term projects, in areas such as health or education, that lift people out of poverty

3) Helping campaigning work – pushing for change that makes the world fairer for everyone

Many thanks from the Blister Blasters
