Challenge Reed's · 16 May 2012

We work in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa and in the UK, raising awareness and funds to support projects under three criteria: nutrition, education & enterprise. Within the UK the focus of our work is in schools and sending containers of resources to South Africa.

Story

On the 7th of June Nick, Ben and Alex are cycling to Paris from Reed’s School in Surrey in aid of Calabash Trust UK. We would be honoured if you would support us in our epic journey that will test both our mental and physical strength. We are now in our penultimate year at Reed’s and have been fortunate enough to be selected to go to Port Elizabeth, South Africa with a selected group of peers to work with Calabash Trust South Africa.

The money we raise will help to improve the living standards in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. For the last six years, pupils of Reed’s have visited different primary schools in Port Elizabeth and have helped to build playing fields, netball courts, created libraries, built vegetable gardens and delivered teaching workshops to the disadvantaged children of the townships.

This year we will be working at Emzomncane Primary School where we will be looking to change the lives of the children and people in the community by teaching, building a library and netball court. All the resources needed for these tasks will be obtained through fundraising activities. Reed’s to Paris is approximately 250 miles which will take us 3 days to complete. We will be accompanying three adults which will be a task in itself! We will depart from Reed’s on Thursday the 7th of June, and arriving in Paris on the Sunday the 10th of June.

We have set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £3000 and your support and donations will be much appreciated.

None of the money raised will fund any part of the cycle, all donations will go directly to Calabash Trust UK. Online donations that will have Gift Aid added can be made at: http://www.justgiving.com/challengereeds

Yours faithfully,

Nick Beven, Ben Brown and Alex Pecorari
