Story

MANHATTAN ISLAND SWIM
Whilst most of us would prefer to get around Manhattan Island on a boat or in a taxi, on July 3rd 2004 two CSFB relay teams (2 x 6-person teams) got up close and personal with New York's finest waterways and successfully completed the 28.5 mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. CSFB was represented by staff from our offices globally with Matt Eckford & Xanic Jones participating on behalf of London office and more importantly Richard House, CSFB's UK house charity. It was a great day out and a great way to raise funds for the kids benefiting from the support of Richard House. Thank you all for your support.

CHANNEL SWIM
Between the 23rd and 28th August 2004 a team of 6 female CSFB employees will be attempting a relay swim of the English Channel in order to raise funds for Richard House Children's Hospice.

With any endurance event a significant period of training is required to prepare both mentally and physically for the event. Channel relay success relies on the strength of the whole team and everyone in the team needs to feel confident that they and everyone else can complete their part of the swim.

The challenge of swimming the Channel is the combination of a number of factors that together make the crossing a formidable event. The crossing itself will take around 15 - 18 hours to complete, which will mean some of the team swimming in the dark and at the end of August the team can expect sea temperatures of around 65 F. The sea conditions will vary during the swim but it can often be choppy making it difficult to swim/breathe properly, forcing greater energy use.
Please donate online. It's the most efficient way for the team to raise funds for the charity. If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.
Both the team and our chosen charity greatly appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously! Many thanks from the CSFB Channel Swim Relay Team
