We are raising much needed funds to help fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Story

It starts with a thought…

‘ If we put together a Rugby League side with people from work, who would play where? ’

That’s the conversation that we were having. Every person has had these conversations about whatever their sport is, it’s an easy way to pass the time. The difference is not everyone then runs with the idea thinking it’d be fun to do. This is how Charity Chickens ARLFC was born; over a time passing conversation, a whole heap of emails, a few muddy legs and the odd bump and scrape.

We decided that if we were going to put ourselves through the stresses and strains of knocking together a rugby league club, made up of people who had never played the game then we would need to find a good reason. Instead we found a great one; Charity. Who wouldn’t like to see a lot of unfit, inexperienced and very naïve people take to the rugby field? Who wouldn’t spare a couple of quid to enjoy that spectacle?

Once we had decided we would do this for charity things quickly fell into place. It wasn’t always easy but we had a direction and a seemingly endless army of people willing to offer time, money, help and expertise to guide us along the way. Please return the favour and utilise these people for their respective skills. Great people willing to help out charities at the drop of a hat. We would also like to direct you to our just giving pages, details below, and ask you to donate whatever you can. Our chosen charities for this game are Joining Jack and Candlelighters (Just Giving Candlelighters)
