Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Charlwoods Badminton Club is arranging a 24-hour Playathon, where players will be playing back to back games from noon on Saturday 28th to noon on Sunday 29th September.

Over the years the club has had great success with organising and hosting other charity events including Murder Mystery nights, donating the proceeds to local charities.

The driving force for this event came from Linda Hughes, who is a committee member for the club, who recently attended an event held by the Queen Victoria Hospital Trust where she met Consultants and staff alike, including Camilla Slattery who is Head of Fundraising and after talks with Camilla it was decided the club would raise funds for the Trauma Chair.

There is significant evidence that bed rest is often detrimental to patients’ health and that getting them out of bed as early as possible is beneficial to their immediate health and facilitates a shorter length of stay in hospital. The Trauma chair will enable patients' to achieve this.

This 24-hour marathon will take place at Sackville School on Saturday 28th and through the night into Sunday 29th of September. Sackville School has kindly donated the use of their sports hall free of charge.
