Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Every year at Charterhouse all Lower Sixth pupils have to walk 50 miles in 24 hours, something that I'm not looking forward to! The story goes that a US General bet the school that their pupils couldn't complete the challenge and go to Chapel the next morning, so for the last thirty years or so, over 150 pupils have walked from Rodmell, near Lewis, back to Charterhouse. This is not just a physical challenge but a mental challenge as well; we walk through the night which is supposedly very disorientating and tiring.
I've started doing some practice walks, one on the Downs Links and one on the South Downs Way (both significant proportions of the walk). I will also be doing compulsory practice walks with the school.
The money raised will go to the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) which is run by Baroness Cox; HART is an amazing charity and works in countries which most charities can't/don't go into, including Burma, Sudan and East Timor. All have suffered/are suffering from either repressive regimes or civil war which is why the money raised is so important to local people.
