Story

25th November 2009

Hello everyone,

Well the big event has now happened!

The team did well and soldiered on through the 24hour onslaught of continuous driving. Up against some professional gamers, they did great to finish 7th overall, and in the early stages, were even up in 4th place.

It was great to see them there as a team to keep spirits high, and they were checked on by various members of McLaren throughout the event- some rather dismayed at the nutritional diet of Krispy Cremes and Red Bull that had been decided upon!

We managed to raise the most of all the teams via our Just Giving page, so thank you to all of you who helped us with this. We also raised £1500 in the auction, so a fantastic amount of money for a great cause.

So thank you gents, for taking part and congratulations on the result.

Thank you as well to all at the Race Centre for setting up the event, and congratulations on its success.

Oh and remeber, this page will be here for a few more weeks - so any final donations, are of course welcome.

Friday 20th & Saturday 21st  November 2009

With motoring in their blood, it was only natural that eight members of the McLaren Group would be inspired by speed in their bid to support the Children In Need charity.

Later this month, the group will take part in a gruelling Le Mans-style 24-hour enduro, racing aboard a state-of-the-art racing simulator, in the Race Centre Children in Need 24hr Race.

The challenge? The identity of the circuit will only be revealed to them on the day, and they will be racing against other crack teams – including entries from Virgin and Porsche – in a bid to be victorious.

With more than £10,000 raised last year, and all proceeds going towards Children In Need – the BBC’s long-running charity marathon, which this year takes place on Friday November 20th – we are asking for your support in helping us raise money for this extremely worthy cause.

To support the team, please visit their Just Giving page (http://www.justgiving.com/children-in-need-mclaren), where you can make sponsorship pledges or leave personal messages of support. Remember, it doesn’t matter how much you can spare – it’s all for a good cause, and every little helps.

Many thanks

Update 10.11.09

So yesterday evening a few of the team headed to the Race Centre to take part in a practice session. Chris reports it was great fun, but glad to have been able to practice, whilst Nick said there were quite a few serious faces in the room and standards were very high.

I have every faith the team will do great, so make sure you continue to pass this link on to family and friends so we can show them as much support as possible, whilst helping a great cause.

Many thanks

Latest News

The team were second quickest with a 1.13.388 in the first practice round, with the remaining teams all within 3/10ths of a second of each other. Add to this the fact that there are four more teams yet to set a time, it looks like it will be a very competitive 24hrs!
