Story
Last year I made it the 180 miles to the National arboretum in Lichfield! The challenge was tough, battling all weather conditions but we all made it...and the pain of the ride was well worth it, knowing the difference all the donations made to the shattered lives of families.
This year, I am doing it again. Unfortunately the COPS family is getting bigger each year and it is important that we continue to the support of this amazing charity.
The grueling 180 mile bike ride around the UK will commence on the 29th July completing the distance by Saturday afternoon. I will then ride an extra 10 miles Sunday morning to Lichfield arboretum, where a remembrance service will take place, attended by every Police Force in the UK!
Why is COPS so important....?
Most people know my story but for those who don't know, back in 2002 I lost my dad who died in the line of duty. I am immensely proud of the everyday sacrifice my dad made to protect our streets. In return I wanted to push ourselves (again!) to my limits and raise money to continue to support this amazing charity!
COPS was set up by survivors in order to provide support for the families who have lost a family member whilst on duty.
It's been 13 years since COPS was formed and they have provided support for families across the nation, who unfortunately find themselves in the worst position that they could be in. COPS enables them to share stories and whilst offering support/guidance. On the long and difficult journey to rebuilding lives, COPS helps to form long term friendships and provides a crucial platform to help each family member share their grief with people who truly understand what they are going through.
I have been hugely supported by COPS and witnessed firsthand the benefit and support this charity gives. Life would have been so much harder without them and for this we feel it is now time to help give back to the charity for all its done for us.
