We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

15 weeks ago whilst suffering a particulally bad hangover and my third mid-life crisis, i decided to get fit and run the Palma Half Marathon. A great idea at the time..

Over the past 15 weeks, i've had more leg pain than Sir Paul McCartney. I've suffered from Runner's knee, Runner's nipple and Runner's wrist cramp, although that last one was more the fact that after seven years i am now single and live on my own....

So this sunday is the big day. I´ve been in training, done over 600 km´s and lost a bit of weight, but i think that´s due to me crapping it.

Whilst running in the gym and perving at the girls, i was thinking i should do something good for once, hence this Just Giving page.

You may or may not know that my mum looks after Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy´s from the ages of 6wks to 12mths, getting them used to modern day life, public transport, visiting schools and educating people about the dogs and how they work for their owners. Once the puppy´s are a year old, they then go off to Guide Dogs School where they have specific Guide Dog training.

So if you want to join me in supporting them and make yourself feel good at the same time, then why not donate 5 quid for me doing 21kms / 13.1 miles around the streets of Palma this sunday. I don´t want anymore than a fiver, that is enough to make a difference and raise money for the Guide Dogs to do an amazing job for the blind and visually impared.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guide Dogs gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Cheers!

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
