Story

Hi Everyone,

UPDATE! Now that we are finally in London marathon week, I just want to extend a massive thanks to everyone that has sponsored me. The generosity shown has been amazing. Every single penny donated has been greatly appreciated by myself and the Butterwick Hospice.

All that remains now is to finish the race in one piece. Luckily, I remain free from injury so it is just a matter of hauling myself around the 26.2 mile course. Paul has not fared so well, running a Marathon with a fractured shin bone will never be a good idea no matter how much you want it! 53 weeks to get in shape for next year!!!

Cheers, Chris

My Brother-in-law Paul Rogers and myself are running the Flora London Marathon in memory of Paul's Dad, Roy, who passed away on New Years Eve 2007 after a brave battle with cancer.

Since that day, Paul and Claire (the better half) have spent an huge amount of time and effort raising money for organisations striving to eradicate the disease and those providing care for the unfortunate number who contract this awful illness. For me it was the realisation that most of these organisations are not big government funded NHS departments, they are small companies, surviving on 100% charity donations and the great self sacrifice of a small number of dedicated carers. When I found this out that, I knew it was time to give something back.

Paul and I are aiming to raise six thousand pounds that will be shared equally between the Butterwick Hospice Care and the Institute of Cancer Research (www.justgiving.com/paulrogersmarathon). So please forget about the credit crunch and help out the best you can by making a donation. Any amount will be greatly appreciated, and you can be rest assured that every single penny you pledge will be going to a fantastic cause.

Many thanks
