Story
In September I will be running the 2017 Berlin Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK. Both of my beloved grandfathers died as a result of this disease and in 2010, a fellow cricket player at my local club and one of my role-models as a young man growing up, Martin Plackett, lost his battle against prostate cancer too. Affecting 1 in 8 men, it is the most common form of male cancer. The chances are that we all know somebody affected by it. Every year I try and do a bit for this charity, usually in the form of organising a cricket match. This year, I will be having a crack at a marathon too - my first overseas and my eleventh in total. Please sponsor me what you can and together we can all help beat this terrible disease.
Ignoring prostate cancer won't beat it. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.
