From June 12th-20th, along with 600 other nuts, I'll be cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End (http://www.rideacrossbritain.com/). I am attempting to make this task (1000 miles in 9 days) more difficult by undertaking a minimal amount of training.
I see a number of patients in our clinics who have inoperable gastric or oesophageal cancer. For them and their families, the journey ahead is incredibly difficult. In many ways, this is eased by the staff of St Catherine's Hospice (http://www.stch.org.uk/). St Catherine's Hospice is a charity which provides specialist end of life care to our patients and support to their families. Only 30% of their running costs are provided by the NHS and the rest comes from local support.
The Hospice staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The work they do is irreplaceable and it is humbling in its dedication and compassion.
I hope you might like to consider helping some of our local patients. Thank you
