Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I am running the London Marathon as a tribute to my mum and to help raise funds for Help the Hospices. In August 2007 my mum retired after 49 years as a nurse (yes 49!). The last 10 years working as a Macmillan nurse at Teesside Hospice. In September 2007 mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and on 15 December 2007 died at Teesside Hospice. The staff at the Hospice helped care for Mum in the last few days and did a quite wonderful job in incredibly difficult circumstances. So many people have contacted me, Dad, Stu and Neil (my brothers) since September to offer support and effectively to return some of the care and attention my Mum showed throughout her life. I am running as a tribute to my mum and to do what I can to support those wonderful nurses up and down the country who look after us intimes of need. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Hospices will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support and please dig deep ! Chris
