We raise funds for children with DIPG to bring treatment options to the UK

Story

At Christie & Co, Christie Finance and Christie Insurance, we are proud to have focused on fundraising for various charities over the years. Each year, a new charity is suggested and voted for by our brilliant staff across the UK and Europe and, for 2022/2023, we have chosen to support The Unbeatable Eva Foundation which was recommended by a colleague with a close connection to the charity’s founders. The Unbeatable Eva Foundation was set up by Paul Slapa and Carran Williams who lost their nine-year-old daughter to an incurable childhood brain cancer called DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). The pair tried to raise funds to get treatment in the US and even appeared on Children in Need. Following Eva’s passing in 2021, they have continued this amazing Foundation to help other families who receive this diagnosis. Each year, around 30 to 40 children in the UK are diagnosed with DIPG and, as of today, there are no medical options other than standard radiotherapy – the same treatment which was offered to children 60+ years ago. The Unbeatable Eva Foundation helps support families with a child diagnosed with DIPG by supporting medical research and sending gift boxes, so the children have fun memories. Our amazing team of staff will be fundraising through various events throughout this year and next, and as a smaller charity, each penny raised can really make a difference, so we are very grateful for every donation received. If you would prefer to set up a monthly donation or purchase some wonderful merchandise, you can do so through the charity’s online shop: https://www.unbeatableeva.co.uk/shop

About the charity

Our foundation supports children diagnosed with DIPG and their families by providing boxes filled with presents and treasures, to help bring a smile to faces during such difficult times. In addition to this, we fund raise to bring treatment options for DIPG to the UK where none currently exist.
