Story

UPDATE - The ride went very very well and ran like clockwork with excellent support from the girls, we actually completed 188miles in total (must be the ups and downs adding up!) with possibly a couple of miles not even being counted as the bikes were carried in 'handbag' or the new-school 'briefcase' style for almost the first two days.  A brilliant time was had by all involved and we can't thank everybody enough who has supported us and donated to this very worthy cause, giving us the willpower and determination to plough on even when faced with miles of peat bog up the wrong hill! Serious character building stuff!  And not one puncture or mechanical failure, despite everyone having at least one big off!

Thanks again for helping us reach our target from the Magic Bullets!

You can of course still make a donation if you missed out doing so before the event!

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page, at the end of July we’re undertaking a mountainous task to raise funds for the Christie’s magic bullet cancer charity.  We're raising funds on behalf of a very brave woman called Lynn (Rob’s wife) who is recovering from breast cancer and who, thanks to the team at Christies, is now making a great recovery.

The task we've set ourselves is to follow in the steps of Wainwright’s famous walking route, travelling from the west coast to the east coast of England, a journey of some 180 miles in total.

Starting at St Bees Head near Whitehaven, through the mighty Lake District and on over the tops of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors, and finally to finish dipping toes in the surf of Robin Hoods Bay near Whitby.

To make the crossing a ‘full-on’ challenge and worthy of your much appreciated sponsorship, we have chosen to complete it on mountain bikes and fully expect it to be mostly in the style of, what even the mountain biking pros term ‘the handbag route’.

This gives a hint at the severity of our task as the bikes obviously become handbags on the steepest sections and we will be travelling the whole route 100% off-road on our bikes (or with the bikes on us)!  No other forms of transport are allowed whatsoever!!!

So please do sponsor us now!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Christie's gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
