The challenges of autism are difficult to convey to those whose lives have not been influenced by the disorder. My daughter, MacKenzie, fights daily to overcome challenges that most people would consider part of their normal everyday lives. She is my hero. When I accepted a work assignment that required me to relocate to the United Kingdom, my biggest concern was finding an educational program that would allow Mac to successfully build on the positive progress she had made thus far. Luckily, my wife Sandra found TreeHouse. The faculty and staff at TreeHouse are fantastic. They truly care about the children attending the school and create a positive educational environment designed to meet the needs of each child. Working abroad for the last few years has allowed me to make contacts, colleagues, and friends around the world. I am reaching out to this group to help me to help TreeHouse to continue to provide much needed support and services to children and families dealing with autism. I volunteered to run the London marathon to help raise funds for the school. I have never run a marathon before and believe me, my legs hurt! Mac asks, "What is the matter Dad?" every time I return from a run. There was a time when Sandra and I were told Mac would never speak. Organizations such as TreeHouse have helped my daughter to continue to progress despite her challenges. Suddenly, the marathon does not seem like such a challenge. There is no cure for autism - only hard work and hope. Your sponsorship is much appreciated.
