Story

Hi All,

Thanks for visiting my page! I have decided to take part in something that means I will now have to do some excercise!

After my first night of training (30th June) I managed to walk 3.2 miles in 45 mins - I tried to run and only managed 4 x one minute jogs at different intervals and thought I was going to die! Therefore I plan to keep this updated as my progress develops and I become a potential Marathon Runner!!

I have started my donation plea early so that I know how much you will all believe I can do it (I hear the giggles now!!!!!!!) and hopefully feel motivated and responsible for your donations that I will have the determination to do this!! Yipeeeeee!!

Updates

1st July - Well I managed to run for 10 minutes - 2*2Mins and 2*3Mins - A slight improvement and I looked like a big ball of blood vessels afterwards. Next Training Night  - Friday 4th july :-)

4th July (A Friday Night!) - OH MY GOD - I AM SO PROUD....On the way home from work I went shopping at the Whiterose Centre and by the time I had dinner it was 9pm, so I thought sod it. Then at about 9:45pm I said to myself..'Ciara - Wise Up - You can't not do your third night training!' So at 10pm I went on my 3.2 mile walk/run and managed to run for 20 Mins - I actually did 6.5mins without stopping (0.7miles) - I am so proud...although it still took me 40ish mins so maybe my run is actually jog - but you know what..I am don't care as I can see a change already! Wipeeeeee!!

Tuesday 8th July - Well guys I have REGRESSED!! I tried to run tonight thinking I would get it up to 25mins but only managed 10 :-( 3*3 Mins and a 1min BOO!! Not sure whether it is giving up the smoking as my chest felt like it was closing and I had the worst stitch that made it even agony to walk..and then I spent 15mins being sick when I got home!! Lets see how tomorrow goes :-)

Sunday 13th July - I went to Pugneys Lake which is 1.6miles and went round it three times - running half of the first lap, 3/4 second lap and half third lap - so its gloing slow but getting there! Although health has not been on my side as pulled neck and back muscles meant I didn't go out for a few days ;-( No funny stories to report this week so far...oh - I have been passing a good looking guy on my run in Morley...so I might have to do a fake faint next time I see him ;-)

Thursday 17th  - Been away with work in the week so didn' t get a chance to go out - had a visitor on Thursday we we walked the 3.2 miles - at least that was some excercise :-)

Friday 18th & Saturday 19th - Went to Pugneys lake both days and did 2 laps (3.2miles - 5km) - Tried my best to run but still can't seem to run for more than 10mins without then walking for a bit. Getting a little demotivated now as not seeing much imporvement :-( But keeping at it!!! Its now Sunday 20th and have a lot of aching from yesterday so deciding whether to go out or not or give my body a rest after 3 days on the trot!!

Sunday 20th July - WOO HOO WOO HOO WOO HOO - I managed to run 4.8miles today - not all without stopping though - I ran 1.6miles * 3 with 2 min breaks between each lap to get some water and breathe! But I am so proud...Its all in the mind - will power I have realised - although I am in absolute pain right now as just got back and think I might curl up and die...and I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and put weight on instead of loosing it - I have to believe its muscle!! HA HA

Monday 21st July - Went out again for the 5th night in a row as I will not get a chance to go out now till Friday and Sunday. Did my little Morley 3.2miler and ran for most of it - took 40mins but it is up and downhill. Didn't pass the sexy man..:-( So need to do fake faints :-)

Friday 25th July - Went to Pugneys and did 3.2miles and then had a picnic with my daddy who was over visiting :-)

Saturday 26th July - No Running but a 7.5mile walk around Bolton Abbey - keeping up some fitness

Sunday 27th July - Sunday 3rd August - I have let myself down - I have not done anything for a week - not even been walking at lunch. Have had loads going on and really disappointed with myself - Back on track with my training tomorrow!!!

Monday 4th August - Friday 8th August - Went out three times around Morley in the week - managed to run 3.2 miles 99% of the way with one wee quick walk in between. So hopefully I will be able to to do it this week without stopping and then I am definitely 50% of the way there :-)

Saturday 9th August - Sunday 17th August - I had a bad cold and a chest infection all week :-( and I didn't have the strength or energy to go out - which made me mad as I really wanted to do some running. So I have went out to Pugneys today  (Sunday 17th) with Sarah which was nice as it let me see how I am doing against someone who can run and whether I am doing ok. We ran one lap and then I only managed to run about half of the second lap and walked round for a third lap - so 4.8miles but didn't run it like I could a few weeks ago which is scary and shows me how quick I loose my ability when I don't go out regular. So hopefully I will get it back up to 3 laps this week. :-)

ALSO THANKS SO FAR TO ALL FOR THEIR SUPPORT  - THIS IS THE HARDEST CHALLENGE I HAVE EVER SET MYSELF.

Monday 18th August - Friday 22nd August - Went to Pugneys laske a few times. Managed 3 laps on the 22nd August - but only ran for 2.5miles, walked for half and then ran for another 1.5. Just don't seem to be getting past the 2.5miles without stopping..although I have been told the adrenaline on the day will help me to do it.

Saturday 23rd August - Sunday 31st August - Big sis was over - off work for a week partying in Leeds and London - so no training I am afraid. Although when staying in Wimbldeon got up with a hangover on the Saturday and paid for a day membership at David Llyods with Stephen and ran on the treadmill - only managed 3km as my knee has been playing up and have to get a knee support now. But dedication or what!

Monday 1st Sept - Saturday 6th Sept - Nothing guys - I have been totally and utterly lazy and have no excuse. Weather put me off  - so thinking of renewing gym membership and going back to treadmill, as don't fancy running in this heavy rain.

Sunday 14th Sept - Friday 19th Sept - I have been away on a course and have done well. Did 4.5miles on the treadmill on Sunday night but had to walk for some of it, then did 2.5/3miles on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I also managed to go for a jog at 6am on Tuesday morning through a field with sheep! Although I am still not confident - I will complete the distance but don't think I will do it without walking for some of it - Just can't seem to run the whole time and need to walk for some bits. Maybe on the day it will be different - not sure :-(

Saturday 20th Sept - Pugneys Lake - 3.2miles - so much easier and quicker to run outdoors - I get so bored on the treadmill and 2.5miles feels like forever. I probably only ran for 2.2 of the 3.2miles as I was shattered this morning!

25th September - 5th October  - I was on holiday in Lanzarote. I took my gym kit with me with the intention of going out for at least 3 days. On day 2 of arrival I went for a run, for about 2miles, and felt really good but it stopped there :-( Once the alcohol, sun and sea set in, a run didn't seem as attractive with a 30 degree heat... Not long to go now and extremely apprehensive as I thought I would be running 6 miles no bother by now...but still only managing 3.

6th October - 22nd November - Well guys I think in those weeks I have maybe ran 6 times - working too hard and going on jolly's at the weekend, meant I have let myself down.......

23rd November.....The race is tomorrow - its 10:30pm on Saturday 22nd - I am extremely nervous and will update this with my time tomorrow.....Please let their be a God and may he inject me with the fitness and energy and adrenaliin to do this without stopping...thats my ultimate goal...I don't want to walk for any of it.........

THE RACE!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO

Well I finished it - ran the first 3 miles then walked a little, ran another chunk and walked and ran the end. I think I must have ran 7.5km altogether...

So my time was 1hr 18mins - And I didn't come last!!!!!!!! Yipee

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED ME
