Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 5th December I will be taking to the streets of Birmingham with thousands of others to run 3km around the city centre...wearing a Santa suit! I'm doing this to raise money for the Acorns Children's Hospices in the Midlands.
Acorns is a registered charity that provides specialist care to local children who have life limitting or life threatening conditions and support for their families. These vulnerable children are not expected to live to adulthood and cures for their conditions just don't exist so they require care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It also offers a range of support services for the whole family, including parents, siblings and grandparents, to help them cope at every stage.
Acorns has three 10-bed hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester. It costs over £6,000,000 a year to support their families. There is no charge to families but Acorns are expected to fundraise for over 80% of its income.
£21 could pay for reflexology, massage or aromatherapy
£30 could pay for a multi-sensory therapy session
£50 could pay for a hydrotherapy session
£100 could pay for a bereavement support package for families
£450 will cover the cost of one child's care for a day
So I'm running around Birmingham in a Santa suit.....because Christmas is about families and children and these families need some goodwill from good people like us. Their Christmases are very precious.
Please donate whatever you can; even the price of a selection box or a box of mince pies will help.
Many thanks and very best wishes xx
