Story

6th December 2010 Update!

I have dyed my hair, but unfortunately could not get it bright red e.g. clown. It is still very noticeable, mind you, and photos will be posted up soon.

Just 3 weeks before Christmas; I will be undertaking a more direct approach to fundraising, so if I suddenly message you on facebook unexpectedly, it means I want your cash!!

UPDATE:
I will now be dyeing my hair bright RED in colour.

AND

The fundraising target has been raised to 200 pounds due to overwhelming responses and pledges. I hope they come true!

Why?

I went to the hairdressers to do a bleach blond/white colour test, and was informed to my disappointment that being blonde was not an option given the natural pigmentation of my jet black hair. Unfazed, I emailed my closest friends, and they suggested that I go for Red to signify Santa! Of course, this idea was relevant to my interests, and I underwent another test. I was told that Bright Red would be fine for my hair.

The Bad News.

Unfortunately, this means that I have to delay the dyeing till Tuesday afternoon. I am getting retested for my reaction/non-reaction to the peroxide that will be used as a base for the dyeing, and this takes 24 hours. The hairdressers shuts during the weekend, and since I got the test done today, Friday is a no go as the hairdressers will be shut by the time 24 hours has passed.

Sorry to disappoint, I know some of you were very eager to see with a shock of white hair. I will not disappoint but have a shock of RED hair instead.

Have a look at the newest pictures. They show the peroxide reacting to my skin.

Thanks for your support so far with recommendations and donations!

Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to click the link. Welcome to my Justgiving Fundraising Page!

WHAT I AM DOING:

I am dyeing my hair Snowy White for the whole month of December to symbolise CHRISTMAS and also to draw attention to the charity I work with. Now I know that isn't much to shout about, but I thought it would be good if I were to dedicate my rather silly change of style for a good cause.

WHEN I AM DOING IT.

I have tentatively set a dyeing date of the evening of Friday the 19th of November. I will hopefully get someone to film me getting the deed done as evidence. It will certainly be interesting to see the reaction of partygoers at the various venues I work at.

WHO AND WHY I AM FUNDRAISING FOR:

The charity I am registered with is called "ReachOut". It is a charity which trains primarily university students to become mentors to young people living in Manchester and London. These mentors then help the young people in their education and their aspirations. I was heavily involved in ReachOut during my last year in Manchester and I have made many new friends (young people included) who I will never forget for life. As I am no longer in Manchester, I can't participate directly in their efforts, but the least I can do is try to fundraise in Norwich so that the many young people that make our future what it is can continue to receive this support from our loving mentors.

If you live in Manchester or London and would like to know how you can help, go to the website at http://www.reachoutuk.org

WHY 100 POUNDS?

The rather optimistic initial fundraising target of 100 pounds is there as a benchmark for further fundraising efforts should I undertake them. Ideally, I would like to donate at least 75 pounds to ReachOut this time round.

I would like your financial support for this glorious cause. You don't have to donate a large amount by any means; I'm not asking for any grand gestures or anything. Just 50p, 1 pound, 2 pounds, 3 pounds, a fiver (okay I'm pushing it there) really, really makes a difference to this cause and more importantly to the lives of young people who need this support that our mentors give.

Thank you for your support, I'll be sure to thank each and every one of you personally for your generous contribution.
