Story
Firstly, many thanks again to all of you who supported me in completing the Flora London Marathon back in April. Without your support I could not have completed it let alone achieved such a good time.
If the Flora London Marathon was not enough for me this year, I’ve managed to come up with another equally impossible personal challenge to help raise money for charity. I’ve decided to climb up Mount Kilimanjaro – the highest volcano in the world.
At 5895 meters high, it’s 500 meters higher than the base-camp of Everest and has three designated climbing routes. For some added fun, I’ve decided to complete one of the more challenging routes – Machame Route, christened the ‘Whisky Route’ since it is harder and its views more potent and intoxicating than the other routes.
Through climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, I’d like to raise some extra money for my chosen charity - Meningitis UK.
I've decided to support Meningitis UK since I think it's an excellent charity to support. They are undertaking cutting edge research into developing vaccines to eradicate the different strands of this deadly disease and your support would greatly help them continue their good work.
The more support I receive, the more the charity will benefit, the more motivated and determined I’ll be to reach the summit so please give as much as you can afford to support this superb charity.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Meningitis will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support
Dave
