FINISHING TIME 4:47.29
Following the injury trials and tribulations in the week before the race I was relieved to make it on to the start line and very pleased to get to the finish without having to walk.
The atmosphere on the day with the wonderful crowds and the incentive of raising money for the Alzheimer's Society got me to the finish line despite the pain.
My finishing time was much slower than I would have liked, but given the injury so close to race day I couldn't expect much better. However, it does make me wonder whether I can put the body through it one more time as I do believe there is some unfinished business. So, maybe next year!
A massive thank you to everyone who has contributed to my fundraising effort. It is very much appreciated and it made me even more determined to get to the finish line. Thanks to all of your support I have managed to raise over £5,000 for a very worthwhile cause.
Finally, I know the original photograph caused much hilarity so I thought that I would give you a treat with me crossing the finish line, just to prove that I did actually finish. I promise you the smile was put on for the camera and I was actually in a great deal of pain. For those who check the site occasionally I will hopefully add a few more photos before the page disappears.
Thanks again, your support made all the pain worthwhile.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
