Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A few months ago a friend of mine proposed what seemed as a mad idea, for a group of middle-aged (overweight) men to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world, standing approx. 4 miles vertically, at 5895 metres(19340ft) - a massive distance to climb. Temperatures can range from 40C at the bottom, to -20C at the top.Although at first I was sceptical, after much thought I decided I wanted to join in. I feel this is a huge personal and physical challenge for anybody, especially me in my 50th year, but also a chance to raise money for an excellent cause.
The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital provides a drop-in centre for cancer patients, their carers, families and friends, throughout and after treatment. Being part of the 5th largest cancer hospital in the country, the centre offers a superb service, offering complimentary therapies, counselling and relaxation sessions, while also taking part in research and development for their work.
Every pound makes a difference so please give generously towards this wonderful charity.
