Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
My names Matt Brown and im the Leading Physical Trainer on board THE British warship HMS SOMERSET. At present we are serving with NATO for 6 months in the Mediterranean.
Over the course of the deployment it is my job to keep all 180 members of the ships company at a good level of fitness through various circuit training sessions which are held three times a day. The Medical Officer and i have also started a fit 2 fight weigh - in club to help the ships company stay fit and healthy. This includes them having their BMI, body fat percentage, pulse rate and blood pressure checked every month.
My job as a physical trainer has showed me the true value of what it means to have a healthy heart. My Grandad passed away a few years back with heart problems and that’s when I decided to make the most of my life and become a PTI in the Royal Navy.
On Wednesday the 9th of April 2008 and with permission of the Commanding Officer I am holding a 48 HR Endurathon on board HMS SOMERSET. This event will comprise of 24hrs of rowing followed by a gruelling 24hrs of sit-ups. The whole ships company will be divided into various 1 hr slots to complete the 48hrs. I would like to donate the money we raise from this event to the British Heart Foundation so that they can continue in their efforts in the fight against heart Disease.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: British Heart Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
