Story

Hadrian’s Wall Charity Fundraising Walk 16th – 18th September 2010

Our team from Cobbetts, together with a group of bankers from Barclays Corporate and accountants from Baker Tilly have decided to get together to do something for the community in Leeds, and we came up with the idea of walking along the Wall.  We aim to cover 50 miles in three days!

We are raising funds for St. Gemma’s Hospice, , where they care for local people with terminal illnesses, predominantly cancer.  The Hospice cares for over 1,000 patients every year via an In-patient Unit, Day Hospice and team of Community Nurses who care for people in their own homes.   They also provide bereavement counseling for both adults and children.

This year, it will cost £7.9 million to fund the Hospice’s services, including a refurbishment of the In-patient Unit, and they only receive 28% of their funding from the government.  They therefore have to raise the majority of their running costs from amongst the local community and businesses and we would like to help them by raising at least £7,500 from our fundraising initiative.  All the money we raise will go specifically to fund the refurbishment of the In-patient Unit.

By supporting us in our fundraising initiative, you will be helping us to support a truly local charity which is vital to the community.  Please rest assured that any donation you are able to give will be very much appreciated and very well spent on the patients in their care.

Thank you very much indeed.
