My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

A number of my colleagues, Grant Hepburn, Mark and Marie MacLachlan, Lawrence Tulloch, Damon Brown, Tomohiko Tanifuji and I are competing in a mini Olympics event in aid of Epilepsy Scotland in memory of Carlton Bobb, a former colleague of ours.

The event is taking place on Friday the 12th of June and we will be competing with a number of teams in the following events: biking, rowing, weight lifting and running. We will also be spending the day collecting donations around the company.

We would very grateful if you could dig deep and sponsor us in this unique event for a cause which has a special significance for us at the Corporate Pensions Dept at Scottish Widows.

Epilepsy is defined as having repeated seizures which start in the brain. A brief disturbance to the brain’s normal electrical activity causes the nerve cells to fire off random signals. The result is like an electrical storm that causes a temporary overload in the brain.

There are many different kinds of seizure. Some end in seconds while others may last several minutes. People affected might lose their awareness of what is happening or where they are during a seizure. They may lose consciousness altogether.

Epilepsy is not contagious, nor is it a disease or a mental illness. Between seizures the brain works normally. Each person’s experience of epilepsy is unique. Epilepsy is the most common, serious neurological disorder in the world. In Scotland, 1 in 130 people have the disorder.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Epilepsy Scotland gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
