Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As you may or not be aware I am running this years London marathon and before winning a place via the ballot I had decided that I would like to run for charity - but which one!!??

*************IF I RAISE AT LEAST £250, MY EMPLOYER BAA WILL MATCH THAT AMOUNT ***********

The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Community based Child Health throughout Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. All monies donated to the ARCHIE Foundation go directly towards ‘making the difference’ for children who are patients of the NHS in Grampian and the islands.Every penny donated to the ARCHIE Foundation makes a difference for local children when they need it the most. The ARCHIE Foundation relies wholly on support from the local communities of the north east of Scotland and the Northern Isles. They receive no financial support from the NHS or from the local authorities.

Every child deserves to be healthy!

  • At the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and in our local communities, they are working with the local NHS teams doing everything in our power to make this happen.
  • ‘Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children.
  • They provide key staff posts such as the ARCHIE Specialist Nurse, the ARCHIE Music Therapist and the ARCHIE Family Support Worker.
  • They buy life changing medical equipment and fund specialist training to ensure the local healthcare teams can always provide the most up-to-date and high quality care
  • They Buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.

Our son has been admitted to the hospital on couple of occasions and on one of these occasions we were kindly allowed to stay in one of the ARCHIE Foundations family rooms to sleep overnight, we were very grateful, although Nathan was in for a minor operation at 7 weeks old the last thing we wanted to do was to leave him, so this is my way of saying thank you and to help ensure that they can keep providing this fantastic service to families who need it.
