BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Support Scoo-B-Doo, our Neonatal Fund. In partnership with Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, we fund advanced equipment for over 600 tiny patients each year. 80% of the ward's equipment is provided by generous donations. Giving every baby the best chance.

Story

On 20th September 2009 I will be putting myself through the pain of running the Great North Run Half Marathon and trying to keep up with my brother-in-law Richard - "no chance"! Apart from me trying to lose weight and trying to get fit, there are two causes we are aiming to raise money for - Scoo-B-Doo (represented by this page) and the Alzheimer Society (represented by www.justgiving.com/richardandcraig). Details of why we are running for these two causes are below:

Scoo-B-Doo

My son, Zachary Charlie John Hamill was born at only 25 weeks (15 weeks early) in August 2004 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. He weighed just 1lb 13.5 oz and sadly passed away after just 2 days. Without the wonderful support, care and expertise that the Neonatal team and other hospital staff gave us, we would not have been able to have the memories of a short time together. This is an opportunity for me to raise lots of money for Scoo-B-Doo the registered charity who raise funds to help provide life saving equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit at Gloucestershire Royal .

One in eight babies in the UK are born premature or sick - that's 80,000 babies every year. Around 17,000 of these babies need intensive care, just like Zachary did. So please dig deep and sponsor me online, helping to raise money that can be put towards specialist equipment, training and research, to help more babies survive and to support parents and families like ours through the hard times.

 Alzheimer Society

Our Grandad Harry Bunn is clinically diagnosed with Alzheimer / Dementia and is being well looked at a care home in Birmingham. He is a great man and we would love to support the charity linked to providing funding for his care.

If you can dip your hand in your pockets for either or both charities then we would be eternally grateful. So please sponsor us now!

Thanks for visiting this sponsorship page or the other one www.justgiving.com/richardandcraig and thanks for your on-going support it is very much appreciated!
