Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Capability Scotland and Scope have joined forces with ‘Beyond Boundaries’ presenter and ex SAS Major, Ken Hames, to organise the first ever UK ascent of Ben Nevis led by wheelchair users.
The event, to be called ‘Ken Nevis’, is being sponsored by Burness LLP and will take place on 31 May 2008. It involves 8 teams, each with 5 able bodied people and one wheelchair user who will guide his or her team up the mountain. The winning team will be the one that reaches the summit in the quickest possible time.
This is the first ever joint event between Scope and Capability Scotland - two of the UK’s leading disability organisations. It aims is to raise £100,000 for both organizations, supporting their practical and campaigning work with disabled people.
Apart from fundraising, ‘Ken Nevis’ will show that people with a wide range of mobility issues can successfully overcome their physical barriers and participate in mountaineering/ challenge events – with the right training and equipment. ‘Ken Nevis’ is the ultimate team challenge, where every individual member helps the team to achieve a shared vision.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Capability Scotland and Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
